The DLG Group gets a new Group CFO

Thomas Brebøl Christensen is the new CFO of the DLG Group per 1 July. He is coming from a position as the Senior Vice President and CFO in Danish Crown’s largest business area Danish Crown Pork. The current CFO Lars Sørensen has, after a long career, chosen to downgrade his work and resign from the Executive Board, but will continue to have a number of tasks in the DLG Group.

The DLG Group has employed Thomas Brebøl Christensen (45) as CFO and member of the Executive Board. Thomas Brebøl Christensen comes from a position in the Danish Crown, where he has been the CFO of Danish Crown Pork for the past five years, the last two as Senior Vice President. He also has a background in Mondelez, Cadbury and Dandy. CEO Kristian Hundebøll looks forward to having Thomas Brebøl Christensen on the team.

“Thomas comes with a strong background, and he knows what it takes to create value for the owners of a cooperative. He understands DLG’s DNA and has a broad experience from roles in general management, strategy and economics as well as having spent nine years abroad. At the same time, he has participated in major changes, and these strengths fit perfectly with the changes that DLG is undergoing. Thomas is being given a crucial role in our continued journey from conglomerate to a focused Group, and I look very much forward to the cooperation,” says Kristian Hundebøll.

Major strategic steps
Thomas Brebøl Christensen looks forward to the next step in his career: “The position in DLG is a unique opportunity. DLG is one of Denmark’s most exciting companies, which currently is taking major strategic steps forward. After a very rewarding time at Danish Crown, it also means a lot to me that DLG is a cooperative that works for and is owned by the agriculture sector. I am pleased that, in my new role, I too have the opportunity to work long-term, to support the strategy work and to create value for the owners,” says Thomas Brebøl Christensen.

In connection with the employment of Thomas Brebøl Christensen, CFO Lars Sørensen will be resigning from the Group Executive Board of DLG. Lars Sørensen (61) has been CFO since 2012, and after a long-standing international career as a top executive, has decided to slow down. He will continue in a role where the Group can continue to draw on his skills and many years of experience. In particular, he will support the Executive Board with business development and in strategic projects.

“Lars has played a crucial role in the financial and economic turn-around that the DLG Group has implemented in recent years. DLG has just presented an annual accounts for 2018 with the strongest financial key figures in the Group’s history. Lars has very clearly and precisely mapped out DLG’s financial course in an understandable way for our owners, employees and financial partners. We are therefore pleased that DLG can continue to benefit from his enormous professionalism and financial insight,” says Kristian Hundebøll.

As from 1st of July 2019, DLG's Executive Board therefore consists of CEO Kristian Hundebøll, COO Niels Søren Rasmussen and CFO Thomas Brebøl Christensen.

A tremendous journey
Lars Sørensen is pleased with DLG’s development since 2012. “After 35 years in leading positions in large companies, it is an appropriate time to slow down and spend more time with family. It has been a tremendous journey for me all the way. It is very satisfying that, with my experience, I have been able to contribute to DLG’s positive development during my time as CFO,” says Lars Sørensen.

Thomas Brebøl Christensen has a Master of Science in Politics from the universities of Copenhagen and Aarhus. He also has an Executive MBA from Warwick Business School, training from SEI/INSEAD and has a background as a language officer. Thomas will start at DLG on 1 July 2019 and until then will continue at Danish Crown.
