DLG’s Group CEO becomes chairman in a new global climate task force

On behalf of the danish food industry, the Danish Agriculture & Food Council has established a new global climate task force to help develop concrete initiatives to minimize greenhouse gas emissions at a global level. CEO of the DLG Group, Kristian Hundebøll, will be the chairman of the new task force, which consists of 10 significant players from the Danish food cluster.

Denmark accounts for 0.1 percent of the world’s CO2-emissions. If we really want to fight the global climate crisis, we must think more cross-borders in the work of making global food production more climate-efficient. These are the words of the Danish Agricultural & Food Council, who is now setting up a global climate task force to develop concrete initiatives to minimize the global climate footprint.

Group CEO in DLG, Kristian Hundebøll, has been appointed chairman of the new global climate task force. He will be responsible for the task force’s preparation of a plan for how the danish food cluster can fulfill its vision for global reductions and for determining the specific political framework conditions necessary to be able to maintain and develop the Danish food industry’s global potential.

“I look forward to initiating the work of the new climate task force. Denmark cannot solve the climate challenges alone, but we can and must be a pioneering country that both inspires and spreads awareness of our green solutions at an international level. For several years, we have worked intensively across the Danish food industry on the development of sustainable technologies, and therefore it is also common sense that we share our green experiences,” says Kristian Hundebøll.

Concrete recommendations

The global climate task force consists of a total of 10 strong representatives from the Danish food cluster. The most important part of their future work will first and foremost be to discuss how the Danish food cluster can to an even greater extent be part of the solution to the global climate challenge. Secondly, the work must result in concrete recommendations that will promote Danish solutions. For example, in the form of policy initiatives and real sustainable development opportunities.

“In DLG we believe that a company’s work with sustainability must be measured by its actions. Recently, DLG have launched a sustainability plan, ZERO, which sets goals in the long run, but also aims to develop concrete and real sustainable solutions that our customers and owners can use in their work sooner rather than later,” says Kristian Hundebøll and continues:

“DLG’s concrete sustainability work is something I want to maintain throughout the upcoming work process in the global climate task force. We must inspire, but also be specific on how Danish green solutions can contribute to significant CO2 reductions – including on a global level.”

The global climate task force is expected to complete the work in the late summer of 2021.
