DLG Group and Lantmännen strengthen international cooperation
Two of Europe's largest agricultural companies, the Danish DLG Group and Swedish Lantmännen, strengthen their existing cooperation on the international markets through a new company
Danish DLG Group and Swedish Lantmännen announce an expansion of their existing cooperation on agricultural activities in a new 50-50 joint venture Lantmännen DLG International (LDI).
The purpose of the new company is to strengthen the position in existing markets and business areas, in which DLG and Lantmännen already have a strong partnership, and to expand into new, primarily European, markets. The cooperation through LDI also include the possibility for development and acquisition of new and related business areas.
The two farmer-owned companies, DLG and Lantmännen, are together the absolute elite measured on turn-over and earnings. The new JV will be run jointly by members from the two Executive Management Boards and the two Chairmen.
"Lantmännen and DLG already cooperate on a number of European markets, but with the creation of LDI, we will achieve the necessary critical mass and strength to expand into new markets and improve our position on markets, where we already cooperate,", says Kristian Hundebøll, CEO of the DLG Group.
"The fundamental thing about our cooperation is how our common size and mass will be of benefit to our owners and customers. Together DLG and Lantmännen will be stronger - also due to our increased purchasing power," says Per Olof Nyman, CEO of Lantmännen.
The expanded cooperation in LDI will not include the home markets in Denmark and Sweden.
