Record profit distribution to owners by DLG

DLG’s Board of Representatives has approved the largest profit declaration in the company’s history and distributes EUR 23 million to its members. This takes the total profit declaration for the five-year ‘Leading the Way’ strategy period to more than EUR 86 million, which represents a 39 per cent increase on the previous strategy period.

Niels Dengsø Jensen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DLG, says:

I am pleased that DLG's highly committed managers and employees across the group have once again made a great effort, which means that this year we can pay out a historically high dividend of EUR 23 million to our owners. It corresponds to a return on the contributed capital of 13 per cent. Since the presentation of our group strategy ‘Leading the Way’ in 2017, we have been able to pay out a total dividend of more than EUR 86 million to Danish farmers, which is 39 per cent more than in the 2012-2017 period. It testifies to the fact that we set the right direction with the strategy and that we have a strong business model that works. We’re going to develop this further in the future.”

The group’s international companies contribute, in particular, to the record-high distribution to the owners, and according to Niels Dengsø Jensen this is in line with expectations.

“Our international activities are doing really well, and this is a contributing factor to DLG’s impressive performance, which in recent years has enabled us to invest massively in our Danish business for the benefit of DLG’s Danish owners, while at the same time adding more value for both our owners and our company. This is proof that, by virtue of our strong international position, we can develop our Danish roots,” says Niels Dengsø Jensen.

New strategy

The turn of the year marked the end of the ‘Leading the Way 2021’ strategy. In spring 2022, a new strategy period starts, during which the focus will be on further developing DLG’s position in a sustainable perspective.

“The ‘Leading the Way’ strategy was focused on our core business and our three business areas. And we’re now reaping the benefits of that very keen focus. The new strategy must be based on the solid foundation we have created, while we take action in a historically great transformation. DLG must be a key player in driving agriculture in an even more sustainable direction,” says Niels Dengsø Jensen and continues:

“A year ago, we launched our sustainability plan, and I am very pleased that in such a relatively short time we have managed to set the direction for that agenda with a streak of concrete projects within, among other things, renewable energy and alternative proteins. With our new strategy, we will be a leading and driving force in a historic paradigm shift in the green transition. We want to provide solutions to our owners and create new business areas for our group.”
