From the gas station to the corner office: Kevin Lorenzen celebrates 25 years in Team

Kevin Lorenzen has had an impressive career in Team. This month he has his 25th anniversary.

Today, Kevin Lorenzen is the CEO of Team, which is one of the largest companies in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. His career in DLG's German subsidiary began at a gas station. Here, 25 years later, the student job has been replaced by a corner office in Team's new domicile in Flensburg - but he is still closely linked to the petrol stations.

Kevin Lorenzen was born in Aabenraa and grew up in a village with 1,700 inhabitants between Schleswig and Flensburg. He went to a German high school in Flensburg, and it was during those years that he laid the foundations for his career in Team, when he got a student job at a petrol station in the northern German town of Eggebek, which in 1998 was bought by Team.

Here he continued as a student assistant while he studied at the University of Flensburg and the University of Southern Denmark in Flensburg and Sønderborg, from which he has a BA in Business Administration and an MBA in Economics and International Management.

With his master's degree in house, he was employed as a management assistant in Team in 2002, and already two years later he became director of Team Agrarhandel, which was the company's agricultural business at the time.

In 2005, that part of the business was sold to HaGe, another company in the DLG group. In relation to this, Kevin Lorenzen became responsible for the integration of Team Agrarhandel in HaGe and head of the business in Eastern Europe. Two years later, he returned to Team, where he was given the responsibility for the company's energy business.

In 2009, he took another step up the career ladder and became secondary managing director, where he had a close partnership with Iwer Jensen until the latter retired in 2019. In the meantime, Kevin had joined DLG's Executive Committee, where he continues to part of the team setting the strategic direction for the group, where the German market plays an increasingly important role.

As CEO of Team, Kevin Lorenzen has helped to drive the impressive development and growth that has characterized Team over the past 15 years, where revenue has increased tenfold from 5 billion DKK to 50 billion DKK. Among colleagues and business partners, he is known for his special ability to create relationships and for his keen eye for finding the good investments that have been decisive for the incredible development Team has undergone. Therefore, he naturally always dedicates a large part of his time to meeting current and potential business partners, while at the same time prioritizing time to get around Team's business. Today Team has more than 450 locations across the German states within energy, agriculture, and construction.

With a strong awareness that the employees are the key to success, as Team has grown, Kevin Lorenzen has focused on ensuring that the Team culture is also anchored in the companies that have been acquired over the years. It has also been one of his focal points in the merger of the two DLG companies Team and HaGe, which meant that the workforce in Team in autumn 2022 grew to almost 5,000 employees.

Privately, Kevin Lorenzen is married and the father of two daughters. In a busy everyday life, his sparetime is with the family, who enjoys traveling together, as well as the extensive circle of friends.
